Inspiring people

Array

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and praise an inspiring and hardworking department at Whitehorse General Hospital. The unsung heroes in the

pharmacy department work cheerfully and collaboratively with doctors and nurses to provide the safest and best of care for their patients.

They are also the driving force behind a generous and fun event, taking place at noon on Friday, March 18th in the hospital atrium.

During the “Hair Razor,” five pharmacy staff, a chemotherapy nurse and the hospital’s chief operating officer will be having their heads shaved.

There will also be a 27-year-old mustache departing the upper lip of a long-standing staff nurse.

The goal is to raise $10,000 for the Karen J. Wiederkehr Memorial Fund, which was created in 2000 to help support women undergoing treatment for breast

cancer. Karen’s fund provides bursaries of up to $1,000 to assist with some of the many expenses Yukon women encounter during treatment.

The participants would like to thank the staff at Head To Toe for donating their time and skill. Donations can be left at the hospital’s admission desk, or dropped off in the mailbox outside Karen’s Room, the chemotherapy suite at WGH.

Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $10.

Please make cheques out to Whitehorse General Hospital, with “Karen’s Fund” in the memo line.
