In the recent escape of a psychiatric patient from Whitehorse General Hospital, I am dismayed to see you think it is all right to publish the patient’s name over and over.
Furthermore, not anyone who has been quoted or has written about it has said anything about using the name, including the hospital.
We have failed this patient by not having the security needed, and then compounded it by revealing who it was, even publishing a photo.
This person is ill and needs support and protection, and certainly confidentiality is a basic expectation to help in recovery.
For shame!
