This is a warning to every man and woman out there who ever thought they were safe using a condom they got from the bar.
I will not use any names of people or establishments as this is not an attack, it is a warning.
A friend of mine let me know that some of the free condoms that the health promotion unit so generously provides to the bars and other establishments in town have been compromised.
Apparently, staff at some of the bars make a “game” out of poking holes in the condoms before placing them in the bathrooms for distribution.
I am disgusted that anyone could think it is funny to put the health of hundreds of people at risk. Sexual health is not a joke!
If you have used a condom that you have gotten at a bar, I suggest you get yourself screened (it’s free). You can contact your doctor’s office or Yukon Communicable Disease Control at (867) 667-8323 or 1-800-661-0408, extension 8323, to make an appointment.
If you need access to condoms, I recommend visiting your doctor’s office or contacting Yukon government health promotion at (867) 667-3003 to find. Please be safe this holiday season.
