I live in Riverdale with my husband and our 20-month-old son. Lately I’ve become appalled by the people that live in this community that have no respect. It really is sick.

This spring I’ve been to all the playgrounds in the Riverdale area. They’re all covered in cigarette butts and garbage. Just recently I was at the playground on Bell and Morley Streets and I was so disgusted - there must have been six broken beer bottles all over the playground. I wasn’t even able to play there. Before, I’ve found pieces of glass here and there but been able to pick them up and go about my day.

Today I realized our Riverdale community has bigger problems than that. My son and I were walking on the trails between Christ the King and Vanier schools when my son pointed out a used needle on the ground. There are a lot of kids and dogs that walk those trails. It’s really disgusting the amount of disrespectful people in our community.

Whitehorse really needs to clean up this trash - and I’m not talking about the garbage, even though that’s gross too.
