A Goldbottom scene is shown in the above photograph by one of my favourite photographers, Wolfe Photo of Dawson City. I have a rare, large, roughly 30- by 35-inch photograph of the town or village of Goldbottom, taken at an earlier time than the above photo, which is from Samson Hartland’s collection. He is a collector of old Yukon photos, as I am. Thanks, Samson.
Note that this photo was taken in 1914. I believe that Wolfe, the photographer, was quite active in this time period, especially around the creeks, towns and villages of the Klondike. I have two Wolfe photos from the period, one taken at Grand Forks (Bonanza townsite) Yukon, also from 1914. My other Wolfe photo was taken at Granville, Yukon.
If I remember correctly, a few years ago I visited the Miller family in Goldbottom. They were living in the original Goldbottom Hotel. It was an interesting and rewarding experience, seeing the historic building. The Millers are a long-time mining family in the Goldbottom/Hunker Creek area.
