What better way to raise funds for Yukon Women In Music (YWIM) than watching women play music?
The organization that “exists to support and promote Yukon women and gender-diverse musicians musicians of all ages and experience levels,” is hosting its third-annual spring fundraiser titled “growing together” on Friday, April 5 at the Whitehorse United Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7.
On stage will be musicians including:Deb Bergman and Andrea McColeman, Kim Beggs, Nicole Bauberger and Cai Krikorian with guest Arlin McFarlane, Megs Hewson, Hayley Halushka and Andrea McColeman, Amelia Slobogean, Hanna Roth, Carolyn Watt and Elsie Brown. The show is expected to run about an hour and a half overall.
“We are thrilled with the diversity of talent” said YWIM president Arlin McFarlane. “It is such a lovely opportunity to perform with a very listening and supportive audience.”
As it’s main fundraiser for the year, the spring concert supports YWIM’s programming for the year.
“This year’s programming includes community outreach and skill development workshops as well as performance opportunities that focus on ‘helping support women and gender diverse people in music,’” a notice from YWIM reads.
Tickets are available in advance by e-transfer to yukonwomeninmusic@gmail.com or by Pay Pal online at ywim.ca Cash or credit card will be accepted at the door. The suggested price is $25 or pay what you determine.
There will also be a 50/50 draw and a silent auction style bake sale.
