Simapalooza a smash

Saturday's Simapalooza party at Mount Sima ski resort would have been hard to imagine a year ago.

Saturday’s Simapalooza party at Mount Sima ski resort would have been hard to imagine a year ago.

Celebrating the mountain’s renaissance after a terrible—if not nonexistent—season last year, skiers and boarders were treated to a party on snow, featuring live DJs, a barbecue, a beer garden, maple syrup treats as well as skier-cross, boarder-cross and even downhill mountain bike races. There were also some family activities on the bunny hill.

“It was probably the best day of the season,” said Guillaume Rochet, area manager at Mount Sima. “Next year I’d like to have a band playing.”

The following day Snowboard Yukon hosted its third and final Slopestyle snowboard event of the season.

Mount Sima’s final day of the season is Easter Monday.
