High school seniors were not the only ones fighting for supremacy at the Yukon Volleyball Championships on Saturday at the Canada Games Centre. Grade 8, 9 and 10 players were out representing their schools with the Porter Creek Rams reaching every final, snagging a few titles in the process.

While the Rams split the two senior finals, with the boys’ team taking gold, they were golden across the board in the 9/10 divisions.

Led by MVP Ryley Andrews, the Rams defeated the FH Collins Warriors 25-13, 25-7 in 9/10 boys’ final. Taking third in the division were the Roberts Service School Knights from Dawson.

In the 9/10 girls’ division the Rams downed the Vanier Crusaders in a tight 22-25, 25-14, 15-8 come-from-behind win while the Warriors took third. Named MVP was Porter Creek’s Rowan Brown.

The Rams were also victorious in the Grade 8 girls’ division with PC’s Black Team topping the Warriors 25-19, 25-18 in the finals with Ram Sam Wintemute named MVP. The Vanier Crusaders Blue Team took third.

In the boys’ division the FH Warriors helped prevent the Rams from running away with all the junior titles, defeating Dawson’s Knights 25-13, 15-15 in the finals with Warrior Mac Prawdzik getting the MVP nod. However, the Rams did pickup hardware, with the Black Team taking the bronze.
