Victoria police release dramatic video of robbery-in-progress

Investigators hope public will recognize suspect during daring daylight heist

Victoria police have posted video surveillance of a balaclava-wearing man who robbed the Old 'N' Gold jewelry store at 706 Fort St. on Feb. 20 around 5 p.m.

The video shows a suspect holding what looks like a gun, followed by him ordering a store clerk to unlock display cabinets. The man is seen grabbing valuables and loading them into a backpack.

"Detectives do believe that two key pieces of evidence could help identify the suspect," said Const. Mike Russell, Victoria police spokesperson.

The man was carrying a black Ecko Mercenary-brand backpack and wearing black and white Circa skate shoes. The suspect is described to be between five-foot-11 and six-foot-two with an average build.
