Hello,
I am Joshua Hunt, the walk coordinator for the Whitehorse Brain Tumour Walk that is happening on Saturday, June 14. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. at Rotary Park. The walk starts at 11 a.m. To register or to donate, there will be posters at the registration table with QR Codes. Please no cash or cheques just bring your phone.
It’s been 27 years since I underwent surgery for a non-malignant Pilocytic Astrocytoma brain tumour.
It is first important to understand that yes – non-malignant may not be cancerous but no – they are not without lasting, even lifelong, effects.
I may not have had cancer, but I had something that’s affected me, I want people to know I’m doing okay and I’m coping well with it.
My right side is weakened, and I have attention issues. But, for every obstacle I have a strategy. I want to encourage other people with brain tumours that it is manageable, and I am organizing the walk to raise awareness for brain tumours, and to raise money for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
