March 29, 1958 - September 6, 2024
In loving memory ~
William (Bill) Edward Walker On March 29, 1958 Bill entered the world, landing in Bralorne BC to William J Walker and Doreen Grace Walker. The oldest of three, he took great pride in being the protective older brother to Bonnie and Kathleen (Kathy). He enjoyed his days at Big Gun Lake in Bralorne before moving to Vancouver in 1965 where he excelled at swimming and baseball and being a cool city kid. This was his home until 1973 when his father accepted a job as a Hoistman Underground Operator at the Otter Falls Aishihik Dam .... Making the Yukon his forever home. Here Bill went through school throughout the 70s, depicting the quintessential cool guy in his bell bottom jeans and shaggy hair cut. He met his long time partner Glenna Southwick in 1980 and in 1982 his beloved son was born (Eric walker) and his proud journey as a father began. In 1984 the family was completed with the birth of his sweet baby girl, Candace. Bill was a proud dad and uncle to Natassia (Tosh) Southwick, Barry Imbeau and Jenny Imbeau, always up for dance competitions, fun backyard and camping games and blasting his favourite music - Elvis, ABBA and the beach boys to name a few. He was the life of the party. He spent these early years working as a heavy equipment Mechanic, spending the majority of his tenure with Pelly Construction. In 1994, Bill endured a career altering injury that sent him to Yukon College to pursue a career in information technology, where he made the deans list for calculus. After college, Bill started his career in IT in Yukon government, starting in the department of Justice before retiring at the department of education. Here he made many lasting connections and thrived in his field. Bill spent his free time golfing, spending the majority of his summers at Mountain View Golf Course. And would travel to his beloved Mismaloya condo as often as he could. Bill became a doting grandpa to Maddie and Mia (2015 & 2018) and enjoyed his visits whenever his girls were in town. When Bill retired he retreated into a quiet life, surrounding himself with the things he cherished the most and the coveted moments where he shared stories and a beverage on the deck with his son and sister. When life gets quieter and a little less complicated- this is usually the time when we can reflect on what matters. I know my Uncle did this often and I imagine his truest treasures were the connections he had to his closest and best friends - Eric (Amy), Kathy and Candace. Sadly, on September 6th, 2024 Bill left this world and his family too soon and our hearts are broken. Be at peace with the spirits in the sky. 'I hope you're dancing in the sky. I hope you're singing in the angels choir' We'll miss you always.
