It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Terry William Madley. He passed away peacefully February 19th, 2018 @ 1:10 pm surrounded by his family at the hospital in Smithers B.C, where he resided.
Terry was born in Whitehorse Yukon June 15th, 1951 to William (Bill) Madley and Colleen (Warne) Madley. He lived there with his younger brother Alan (Beverly) Madley until age 10 when they all moved to Courtney B.C, and then Surrey B.C, where he graduated high school.
Wherever Terry went there was work to be done. With his strong work ethic he was never shy to roll up his sleeves. He spent his career as an entrepreneur in the Yukon, in the mobile home rental business (1973-1983) and Ptarmigan Tarmac Paving (1978-1984). Terry then operated and owned Madley's General Store (1986-2011). Not going without honourable mention in all of these endeavours, never too far behind him to help see everything through were his wives and companions: Karen (Lees) Madley, Joanne Feenstra, and Vicky (Young) Maynes.
Terry's most cherished accomplishments are his 5 children Ryan (Renee), Darren (Jennifer), Heather (Sean), Jana (Jeff), and Emily (Graeden) and 6 grand children Aidan, Pippa, Elias, Charlotte, Otis and Breah. However unorthodox he may have been in parenting, his focus never swayed from teaching his children to be independent, self-reliant and how to put in an honest days work ("how to make a buck").
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, adventurous and spontaneous spirit, and his love of cooking. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone going through a tough time or challenge in their life, often leading them to success in their lives as well.
