Terry passed away November 21, 2024, in Whitehorse surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Dementia. He is very dearly missed every single day. Terry was 81 years young and is survived by his wife Kathleen Zimmer, sons: Darin, Andrew (Jackie Delorme), daughters: Suzanne Lamoureux, Caitlin (Stefan Alexander) , Meghan (Victor Estrada), grandchildren: Luke, Matthew, Luca, and Keira. He was predeceased by Earl Neazor (father), Nev Skingle (stepfather), Marvelyn Skingle (Mother), Jim Skingle (brother), Mike Lamoureux (son in law) and Terri Skingle (daughter in law).

Terry was a rebel, ahead of his time, independent, and an adventurous traveler with an impeccable eye for colour. Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan he later moved to Vancouver Island to be with his mom and brother. He had a variety of adventures on the Island and numerous occupations: salesman, delivery driver, fisherman, gardener, maintenance worker, and donkey liberator to name a few. Terry met and married Suzie and started on his 1st family but Terry was bitten by the wandering bug again and traveled for a number of years to most places in Canada, US, South America, and the Caribbean. Oh the stories he told! In 1982 he finally made his way to the Yukon and never left. He still yearned for the hot climates in winter but found a love of camping, fishing and wilderness in the Yukon.

Terry had a few more adventures in the Yukon. He met and married Kathy and embarked on his 2nd family. He was a very savvy Dad and the kids couldn't get a thing past him because if they were thinking about it, he'd probably already done it. More than that, he instilled a sense of independence in his kids and always encouraged them to think for themselves. He had a big heart that touched many lives - the house was always full of love, kids, friends and adventures. Whether it was an impromptu drive to log cabin or a fishing trip to one of many lakes, or a climb to the top of the Carcross dessert or Grey Mountain, Terry and kids were always up for it.

In the Yukon he was a hotel maintenance worker, a bar owner and the "Paint Man" at Beaver Lumber/Home Hardware and upon retirement, he worked part time for Inspired Interiors. After retirement, Terry bought a boat and the infamous pig of an RV and made so many great camping memories with Kathy, the kids and grandkids. His favorite lake was Kusawa and he liked nothing better than being surrounded by his family and friends at the lake. It was with great sadness that Terry could no longer manage driving and camping in the last 4 years of his life when he was limited by dementia. However, even in his last days, Terry was still cracking jokes and hugging his family.

He lived the last 2 years of his life at Copper Ridge Place with the help of the wonderful, dedicated, caring and compassionate staff in units C/D. Words are not enough... Also thank you to Hospice Yukon for their care of Terry and to our many friends that helped support us through this difficult time.

Terry was cremated in a private ceremony on November 29th. At Terry's request, there will be a Celebration of Life this summer on Saturday, June 14th at 14 Tigereye Cres starting around 2pm and going until the sun goes down. Come and share a Terry story or a Terryism. His ashes will be scattered over Kusawa at a later date.

Forever in our hearts
