Rosemary Anne Buck

Rosemary Anne Buck passed away, with her family and friends by her side, on April 30, 2023, in her 60th year.
Loving mother to Isaac and Ella, Rosemary will be fondly remembered by her many friends in Haines Junction and Whitehorse as well as her mother Ruth, sister Carolyn and brothers, Stephen, Philip and Peter.
Rosemary was born in Toronto on Dec. 16th, 1963, and grew up in North York, ON. After graduating from Guelph University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, her adventurous spirit brought her to Nahanni National Park Reserve in Northwest Territories and then, finally, to Haines Junction in the Yukon. She was initially a teacher of Science in Haines Junction and ultimately became a counsellor.
She was an artist, a musician, and a naturalist. She loved walking along the many trails near her home and spent many hours in the canoe paddling throughout Ontario and Yukon. She loved her garden and she and her family spent many happy summers at her family cottage on Kennisis Lake in Haliburton, Ontario. Rosemary travelled extensively throughout South America, much of it by bike. She also cycled through parts of Australia.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Wind River Hospice in Whitehorse where she spent the last days of her life. Also, Rosemary's family owe a debt of gratitude for the tremendous effort which was made by her dear friends, including her current partner, Dave Heath, to ensure that she was surrounded with their love and support throughout her ordeal with cancer.
Rosemary will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday May 7 at St. Elias Convention Centre in Haines Junction with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rosemary's memory to Kaushee's Place in Whitehorse.
