March 23, 1947 - September 2, 2018
A good man left this earth the night of September 2.
A kind man, an intelligent man of quirky and irreverent humour, diverse interests and a great believer in giving second chances. A loving father and husband. A soccer player, golfer and baseball fanatic. A poet, photographer, master of chess, self-taught carpenter and designer of serene living spaces. A man with an artistic appreciation of elegant cinematography. An animal lover who zealously guarded the welfare of his German Shepherd, Bess. A home-loving man. A man who stood his ground, believed in socialist causes and principles and hoped for a better world. A Union man who never crossed a picket line.
Bob is mourned by his wife Gail, children April Hawkes and Lucas Hawkes, their families, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
The family thanks Doctors Syed, Leger, Kanachowski, Stuart, Jameson, Macdonald and Kmet, the nurses of Karen's Room and Whitehorse General Hospital, and the Home Care team for the help and support provided during Bob's illness. Thanks to Ann Marie Dillon, who never wavered, and to Bob's friends whose visits, phone calls and emails enriched his final year of life.
There will be no funeral.
