January 30, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce that Richard D'Aeth, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 30, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a compassionate physician whose life's work was dedicated to public medicine.
Born in Durban, South Africa, Richard graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School and spent his career improving the lives of others through his work in public health both in South Africa and northern Canada. His commitment to service and kindness left a lasting impact on these communities and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Eve (born Lunn); his daughter Ann Jolly; his daughter Rosemary Jolly and her husband, Chris; his son John and his wife, Jasmine; and his cherished granddaughters, Gwynneth and Ariana. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom to his family, and his love will remain with them always.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to those that provided for his excellent care at Rideaucrest Home.
