March 16, 1938 - September 19, 2020
Xóonk'i Éesh - "North Wind Father" ~ Philip James Mclean was born in the Spring of 1938 to Violet and Samuel Mclean in New Westminster, British Columbia, their first-born son of six children. He comes from Scottish, English and Irish roots and was adopted into the Deisheetaan clan by his father-in-law Peter Johns.
He came to the Yukon with his buddy in 1962 for what was supposed to be a weekend excursion. Everything changed when he met, Caroline Doris... the love of his life. Together they started a humble home and not too long after their first-born Marilyn joined them and then Shirley.
He was an exceptional husband and father, he devoted his entire life to the wellbeing, security and happiness of his girls.
Phil had a big, big personality and 100s of friends, he took the time to acknowledge and talk to everyone he encountered in his daily travels through town, in the neighborhood and when he went shopping. He was kind, thoughtful, non-judgmental, feisty, loving, honest, compassionate, and uniquely him!
13 years ago a phenomenal event occurred when Dad found and connected with his daughter, Lorinda Paradis, who he didn't meet until much later in life.
"Papa" went completely bonkers when his precious grandchildren, Megan and Patrick joined the family.
It is heartbreaking for us to think of life without him now, but there is comfort in knowing you are with Mom once again. There is also comfort in knowing your passing was swift, peaceful, at the place you loved most and on your own terms, as always, the way you lived life, with dignity and honour.
We love you Dad & Grandpa and we know you are warm in the light, love and in the arms of the Lord.
Predeceased by the love of his life Doris Mclean
Survived by his Daughters: Marilyn Jensen, Shirley McLean & Lorinda Paradis
Grandchildren: Shane, Megan & Patrick
And His siblings and many Yukon family and friends.
