With deep sadness we announce the passing of Patricia DeForrest (nee Malloy) on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Victoria, B.C. on the cusp of her 91st birthday.

Pat began her working career as a public health nurse and maternity nurse in 1956. After traversing from Vancouver to Honolulu then to Florida and Pennsylvania, she relocated to "the Yukon" in 1970. Having traded shift-work for an office job, she worked for many years at Trans North Turbo Air and then for the Federal Government. She single-handedly raised four children and was affectionately called "Mom" by many others. If you knew her life story you would know her as an adventurer, a book lover, a walker, an animal lover, an incredibly hard worker, a staunch Canadian, and a force to be reckoned with. She was someone who never gave up once she set her mind on something.

The world has lost an incredibly beautiful human being at a time when the world needs more people like her.

Pat is deeply missed by her sisters: Maureen and Sharon (John); her children: Coelin, Daniel (Marianne), Terry (Jeannie), Leah (Paul); her grandchildren: Bronwen (Matt); Erin (Dustin); Katia (Nolan) and Dailen; and her many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pat was predeceased by her parents William and Bessie (Malloy), her brother Terence (Malloy), sister-in-law Naida (Malloy), brother-in-law George (Sikora), "sister-in-law" Kathy (McElvaine), nephew Bryan (Malloy) and cousin, Arlene (McElvaine).

A celebration of life will be held at the Open Door Sanctuary, 1600 Cook Street, Victoria, B.C. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. P.S.T.

Pat left behind many long-term friends. Should you wish to attend her celebration of life remotely, please message singlemaltroad@gmail.com to request a link to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
