Born in Harrow-Colchester, Ontario on May, 15 1933, died January 13, 2025 at the age of 91, a resident of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
Also known to friends as Mac or Matt, Matthew passed away peacefully and went home to his Lord on January 13, 2025. Formerly married to Marjorie Affleck (mother to his children) for many years, and loving father to Brad (also known as Matt) and wife Tammy, and to Lisa and husband Gary. Proud grandfather of Lindsey, Louie, Lauren, Calen, Jade, Kelsey, and Nick. Great grandfather of Braiden, Scarlett, Victoria, and Ava.
A farmer for many years, Matthew also attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama, Western Conservative Baptist Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and Providence Seminary in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Matt was also an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He enjoyed the wildlife that visited his home in Whitehorse. He loved chatting with others and sharing stories with friends.
His family would like to express their greatest gratitude to friends Dan and Marie McArthur and Pat Murtaugh, who became part of his extended family and were dear to him. Thank you to all who brightened his days and were a support to him.
A private graveside service will be held in Ontario in early summer. To honour Matt, please consider doing something nice for someone else to brighten their day.
