It is with great sadness that the Sudeyko family announces the passing of their beloved mother Marlene.
On March 18th, in her 88th year, Marlene passed away peacefully without suffering, in Toronto, at the home of her eldest son Bob. It was Marlene's wish to accept her passing without any further medical treatment and to enjoy the company of all her immediate family in the final months of her life. She was thankful for the many good wishes she received from her friends during that period.
Marlene made the sacrifice of leaving the Yukon to be with her family in her final years but as a true Yukoner, after cremation, she will return to be interred with her husband Peter Sudeyko at Grey Mountain Cemetery, at an appropriate time.
Marlene was born in England, and she made the journey to Canada as a young girl and ultimately arrived in the Yukon. Alongside her husband Peter, she raised a family and enjoyed lifelong friendships with so many fellow Yukoners. In addition to raising a family she was very active in the community as an avid curler and a member of many organizations such as: Beta Sigma Phi, the Canadian Cancer Society, and Yukon Hospice.
Marlene treated her passing as she had lived her life; with a quiet dignity and gratefulness for what her family and Yukon life had provided. Like many others, she came to the Yukon for a short time but stayed a lifetime. She is remembered fondly by all those who knew her and is deeply loved by her family.
Marlene is survived by her five children and their families - Melon, Bob, Rick, Alan and Barbara - who will be forever grateful for the love and care she provided.
The Sudeyko family asks that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to Hospice Yukon.
