January 24, 2022
Last January 24 2022, Marc Bérubé, loving husband, talented cabinet maker, avid hunter, friend to many, possessing a quick wit and a great sense of humour passed away peacefully at Vancouver General Hospital after giving all his best effort to recover from a second double lung transplant.
Born in Cabano, Québec in 1958, Marc came to Yukon Territory over 30 years ago and fell in love with the beauty of the land and the warmth of its people.
Marc built his house entirely from recycled wood and maintained it with great care. He also developed a keen interest for hunting moose and dall sheep and had fond memories of the numerous adventures with friends. His true passion was his work as a cabinet maker which ranged from private to commercial to museums, always with precision and quality in mind, delivered with an easy-going approach.
Marc leaves behind his wife Valérie Gagné, Valérie's daughter Evelyne Martel, his mother Antoinette Lévesque, sisters Linda (feu Gérald Lavoie), Marie-Claude (Denis Paradis), Isabelle (Rodrigue Falardeau), his brother Alain, nieces and nephews.
Marc was predeceased by his father Gérard, brother Michel, sister Joanne (Paul Ouellet).
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Biss for her unwavering care and dedication, to Medicine Chest on Lambert and Medical Travel for their kind support throughout the years. And to the many friends and neighbours, here and far away who helped Marc and I in so many ways, taking care of us, the house, the pets, you made our life so much easier, and Marc truly loved and appreciated everyone of you.
There will be a gathering at a later date when we can share stories and memories of Marc. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Easter Seals House in Vancouver, close to VGH and BC Children's Hospital, an affordable place where Yukonners can stay while in town for medical reasons. Or also to the Lung Transplant Housing Support (LT Housing Support).
