October 28, 1953 - April 19, 2019
Our youngest sister Lynn Rear was taken from us unexpectedly Friday, April 19th, 2019.
She leaves behind her daughter Alana and grandsons Darnel, Divyne, Dez and Dax. Brothers Alex and Jim, sisters Louise, Glenella and Donna. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her special Aunt Dorothy. Lynn was predeceased by her parents Glen and Ella, brothers Chuck and Bertie, sisters Maureen and Georgina. Lynn was the youngest of 10 children growing up on Black Street and attended Whitehorse Elementary and FH Collins schools.
Lynn was very passionate about health and wellness and worked toward promoting food security through her involvement with Tr'ondek Hwech'in in Dawson City, which included working as a Director and being elected to Council.
Lynn worked toward and supported the establishment of a community greenhouse, development of the TH farm and gardens, the R22 (the Gathering Place). Lynn loved her work in the social field where she was compassionate and caring particularly for the youth and the vulnerable. She was a foster parent and shared her home with many.
Lynn was a big supporter in the development of the book "Finding Our Way Home" that documented stories from people who went to residential school.
Lynn was forever grateful for all the love and support she received during her cancer journey. Many thanks to everyone who have reached out with kindness and support to our entire family
