December 7, 1927 - July 20, 2021
On July 20th, 2021 our sweet Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Uncle peacefully left this world in his 93rd year.
He is survived by daughters Brenda (Bob), Kristy (Trevor), and son Randy (Laura), grandchildren Greg (Suzanne), Shelby, Shalisa, Tatianna, Mattson, Tyler, and two great grandchildren Nathaniel and Ruby. He leaves two sister-in-laws Carol and Robbie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Shirley, parents Oscar and Aagot, baby son Jody, grandson Dustin and all seven of his siblings.
Lloyd was born in Calgary and spent most of his childhood in Exshaw and Canmore. He arrived in the Yukon as a young man looking for work. He found it working for the Dept. of Public Works on the Alaska Highway and Haines Road. He later worked For the U.S. Army Pipeline as a Power House Operator.
He met and married the love of his life Shirley Lewis in 1957. Shirley passed away in 2006. Lloyd worked in the mines around the territories, after the pipeline stations shut down.
He did retire once and they moved to Nanaimo. He found work at a seniors residence as a rose gardener! He really had a green thumb and always had beautiful gardens and flowers. After a few years, Lloyd and Shirley moved back to the territory and Lloyd worked for Yukon Electric in Faro into his seventies!
Lloyd was never afraid of trying new things. He had a hobby farm and raised horses for a time, he loved prospecting for copper and silver in the hills, always went out hunting in the fall, skied and skated with the children when they were still home or visiting. Lloyd was known for his hard work, his whistle, his quick wit and that sparkle in his eye. He was very loved and will be truly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff at Whistle Bend Place and Dr. Seal for the wonderful care and the respect he was shown while there.
A small service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to the Yukon Ride for Dad.
Until we meet again~
