At the age of 71 Linda is at peace in the company of the Lord.

Left to treasure their memories of her are her two sisters, Jean (Gus) Ziebart and Pat Johnson;

four nieces & one nephew. Shaunna (Randy) Olsen; Teresa (Todd) Redekopp and their sons Tim & TJ; Angie Ziebart & partner Shone Laing; Kim Johnson; nephew, Cameron (Zelda) Matthee-Johnson.

Her Alberta companion, Bob Leroux, her dear & constant Carcross friend, Keith Seaboyer. Her childhood friend, Dorothy Inglis. Her many Yukon friends who help her so much in her final years, especially Donna Clayson- Prokop, Morris Prokop. Plus scores of friends she made as she journeyed across Canada by dog team.

Linda is predeceased by her parents Percy Arthur & Ruby Fair and her brother-in-law, Brian.

Linda was born in Olds, Alberta. Her formative years were spent in Olds, Wainwright and Edmonton.

Her greatest adventure was her trip across Canada by dog team at the age of 35 which began October of 1998 and completed in August of 2002, taking a total 243 days. She wrote about her journey titled, Five Dog Night - A Woman's Journey Across Canada by Dog Team. The book, in two volumes, was first published in April of 2008.

Linda was a lifelong learner. Evidenced by the many years she spent in post secondary education. Earning credentials in plastics technology, animal health technology, nursing graduate, glider pilot, light plane pilot.

Life experiences include veterinary assistant, computer tech, running a restaurant, heavy equipment operator, lumber grader, fire tower operator, nursing in a rural hospital, sewage lagoon operator and librarian.

Not long after her journey across Canada was completed, her health began to decline. She survived open heart surgery, five heart attacks and six stents.

In 2016 automation made her job redundant at a central Alberta sewage lagoon. She packed up her faithful dogs and moved to the Yukon, settling in a cabin without amenities, not far from Carcross. She was blissfully happy with this rustic way of living.

Her dogs were her family and constant companions.

Over the years, Linda taught herself to play several musical instruments, trumpet, piano, guitar of note. She was mechanically inclined and there wasn't much she wouldn't attempt to fix.

Linda was a very positive person and never let adversity slow her down.

She received a letter of commendation from Yukon MP, Dr. Brenden Hanley.

A caricature of Linda, the dogs and "mushmobile" was published by Ripley's Believe It or Not, acknowledging her trip across Canada.

Her final years in the workforce were spent running the Isabelle Pringle Library in Carcross, a job she delighted in and took great pride in.

Linda's family thank Dr. Alex Kimet, nurses & staff at Whitehorse General Hospital and at Wind River Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Linda's final days.

Cremation has taken place and a service took place April 29, 2025.

For anyone who might be interested, Volume 1 & 2 of Linda's book may be available at your local library.

Linda passed down the publishing rights to both volumes of her book to her niece, Kim Johnson. Linda's family is working on having her book reprinted. If you are interested in purchasing Volume 1, 2 or both, please contact Kim Johnson with subject line 5 Dog Night to Fairberrypress@gmail.com
