August 8, 1961 – October 31, 2019
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Leo Busse has passed away after a long battle with heart disease. Leo moved to Whitehorse, Yukon during the great lead zinc rush of 1986. He started his 30 year long career as a commodity relocation technician, hauling ore for Yukon Alaska Transport and Lomax Transport. After the Faro Mine closed down Leo embarked upon various adventures throughout the Yukon and along the Alaska highway. In 2017 Leo started dispatching for Canada Cartage and enjoyed his remaining years working from home, and spending time with his family.
With much encouragement from his good friends Leo’s attempts at certain Yukoner activities such as cross country and down hill skiing, aerobics and modern dance were less than graceful, however the remaining stories are still appreciated by those who surrounded him. Leo has entertained many rendezvous revellers with his antics in the Capital Kickers for many years, some may even say too many years.
Leo is survived by his loving wife; Kathleen Dolen, his daughter; Breanne Dolen (Scott Stenz), sister; Corinne Busse, and leaves behind a large extended family and many loyal friends. He is predeceased by his parents; Helena and Joseph Busse and his sister; Joyce Busse.
Leo will be cremated and interned in Spirit River, AB in the summer of 2020.
All who knew him are welcome to raise a glass and share a toast in memory of Leo on Saturday, November 9th at 12pm – 3pm at The Ridge Pub in Granger.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC / Yukon Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory will be welcomed and appreciated. If you wish to do this, there is a Donations button on the Heart and Stroke website.
