Laura Jean Myers, a cherished mother, dedicated partner, and extraordinary soul, passed away surrounded by immense love, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a guiding light and the nucleus of her family, drawing everyone together with warmth and kindness.
Laura is survived by her loving partner, Ed Rodger; her children, Nick and Meghan; her daughter-in-law, Miranda; her son-in-law, Ber; and her treasured grandchildren, Ever, Kinnon, and Sundin, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is also survived by her siblings, Cynthia, Donna, Terry and Patty.
She was predeceased by her mother, Noreen Myers, and her father, Stewart Myers. Her love and devotion to her family were unmatched, and her legacy will live on in the stories and memories they share.
Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, she set out as a fearless young woman, traveling across Canada to the Yukon, where she planted roots and built a life filled with love and adventure. She embodied a fearless spirit and boundless joy that made her a true force of nature. Her confidence in her beliefs inspired those around her, and her decisiveness provided a foundation of strength for everyone she knew. Laura lived a life that exemplified standing up for what she believed in, often through her everyday actions and steadfast grace.
Professionally, Laura was a compassionate and innovative childcare director at Creative Play Daycare in Whitehorse, where she dedicated her career to nurturing and shaping the lives of countless young children. Her influence in early childhood education left a profound impact, touching the hearts of both parents and children alike.
Her passions were vast and filled with life. Laura had a deep love for animals and nature, finding happiness and comfort in her garden, where she brought flowers and plants to life with her care. She had a special gift and a keen eye for design, always decorating her home for every season, adding thoughtful touches that made each space warm and inviting. Her attention to detail made her surroundings beautiful and welcoming to everyone who visited.
Her ability to see the good in others was one of her most cherished qualities. Laura befriended people from all walks of life, always seeing value in their uniqueness. This genuine kindness extended to anyone who crossed her path; her door was always open, and she created a home that was a sanctuary for all.
Laura was more than a mother; she was an exceptional grandmother who filled her grandchildren's lives with unforgettable adventures and boundless love. Her dedication and joy were unmatched, and she poured her whole heart into making their lives special. She brought creativity, energy, and warmth into every moment, always planning fun activities and exciting outings.
Even the simplest days felt magical with her, and her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.
Laura was strong and full of grace until the very end. In her final days, she found true peace, reflecting on a life rich with love and gratitude. She took great pride in her children and their accomplishments, feeling a profound sense of fulfillment and serenity that mirrored the remarkable life she had led.
Laura's final moments were a testament to the life she led — surrounded by love, laughter, and the people who meant the most to her. She leaves behind a legacy of confidence, compassion, beauty, and a life well-lived.
