January 1946 - December 2020. It is with deep sadness that we share the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and friend.
Jo-Anne was born and raised in St. Lina, Alberta. She left home at the age of 18 and moved to the Yukon. The Yukon stole her heart and it quickly became her forever home, as that is where she stayed and made roots.
Jo-Anne leaves behind 2 sons; Victor Smith, Kerry (Monique) Smith, 3 grandchildren; Graycen, Tarron and Payton Smith, 7 sisters; Marie (John) Swistelneki, Helen (Mike) Ozaruk, Denise (George) Waine, Catherine Lindseth, Joycelyn (Daryl) Rowlandson, Frances (Billy) Bissell, Monique (Eric) Abramson, 6 Brothers; Tony (Pauline) Dechaine, Tom (Alison) Dechaine, Bernard (Marcy) Dechaine, Aime (Jeanne Katz) Dechaine, Jim (Marie) Dechaine, Jack (Glenda) Dechaine, 42 nieces and nephews, 69 great nieces and nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents Victor and Mary Dechaine, brother-in-law, Neil Lindseth, and 1 nephew and 1 great nephew.
Cremation has taken place and a service in the Yukon and St. Lina will follow once restrictions are lifted.
