Janet Ann Morris (nee Smith)

January 18, 1938 – December 13, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Janet Ann Morris (Smith). Janet passed away peacefully in her room at Macauley Lodge while surrounded by her children, grandchildren and Macauley Lodge staff members who she adored.

Janet will be forever remembered by her children Carolynn Phelps and John Phelps (Marianne), grandchildren Tyler Ell-Phelps, Malisha Trociuk, J.J. VanBibber, Dustyn VanBibber Joshua VanBibber, Zoey Phelps, Shayna Phelps and Deron Phelps, and great grandson Mason Hartle-VanBibber.

Janet was born in Hull, England in 1938 and moved to Vancouver, Canada as a young adult. She moved to the Yukon with her then husband, Willard Phelps, in 1969 where she fell in love with the people and the lifestyle. She lived in Vancouver from 1985 until returning to the Yukon to be close to her grandchildren in 1997.

Janet’s family would like to thank Dr. Zhang for her excellent care and compassion, and all of the staff at Macauley lodge who provided her with the comforts of home. Janet often raved about the wonderful staff and how well cared for she was during her time there.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be a private family celebration for Janet.

In recognition of Janet’s battle with breast cancer and leukemia, family requests that in her memory donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
