Irma passed away at Whitehorse General Hospital suddenly.
She was born in Oxford, Nova Scotia and moved to Whitehorse in 1954. She was employed by the Bank of Nova Scotia, Oxford for eight years and with the Bank of Montreal, Whitehorse for twenty-eight years.
Irma was a member of Yukon Council on Aging, Ladies Auxiliary to Yukon Order of Pioneers, Whitehorse United Church and enjoyed many years as volunteer in Recreation at Macaulay Lodge.
She is survived by two sisters, Vera Furlong, Amherst, Nova Scotia and Betty Wood, Oxford, Nova Scotia as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special "Yukon" family, the Kapty's, Ken, Debra, AJ and Charlie, Barrie, Ontario. Kim Stevenson, Lewis, Lennox and Fionna, Thorold, Ontario.
Irma was married to Carl Gordon for 53 years who passed away May 1, 2000.
She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Lina Thompson, two brothers Norman and Kencil Thompson, five sisters Jenny Storey, Bertha Thom, Winnie Macdonald, Hilda Hollis and Elaine Lynch
Cremation has taken place with private burial of ashes in Grey Mountain Cemetery. No service will be held as per her request.
Thank you goes to Dr. Avery, Dr. Blaker, Copper Ridge nursing home staff and Macaulay Lodge and Whitehorse Ambulance staff who cared for Irma in the end, and especially to Sheila and John Maissan who helped Irma so much over the last couple decades after Carl's passing.
