November 16, 1942 - June 2, 2018
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Glen. Glen passed away at Vancouver General Hospital with his wife Shirley at his bedside. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and had since managed through other illnesses until the end.

Glen was born in Galt Hospital, Lethbridge, AB. He went to school in the farming district, then graduated from Kate Andrews High School.

His first job after high school was with the Hudson Bay Company, where he was transferred to Fort Nelson. While there, Glen got a temporary position at the B.C. liquor store for six months.

A permanent position became available and Glen was transferred to Castlegar B.C. for three years. Glen was then transferred to Atlin and arrived on October 31, 1969. With this transfer he was the youngest liquor store manager in the province of B.C. He loved his work, but more importantly he loved seeing and making new friends.

After 35 years of service Glen retired. His son Aaron held a master fishing guide license and Glen went on to become Aaron's associate. It truly was what he loved the most. He told me the best times he had was taking the boys and several friends camping and fishing on Atlin Lake and traveling the back roads hunting.

In the last few years having a houseboat was a great asset. It was comfortable, relaxing and peaceful. It was the best we could ask for, catching fish was a bonus.

Throughout the years Glen was also active with the Atlin Rec Centre Curling Club and the Atlin Rod & Gun Club. He was an RCMP Auxiliary member for many years. Glen took great pride in his goldsmithing. Many people locally and throughout the world are wearing jewellery he made.

Glen leaves to mourn his passing - Shirley, his wife of 53 years. Son Donald (Granddaughter Amber) and son Aaron. Step-daughter Terry, (Grandsons Curtis and Jason). Step-son Archie (Grandchildren Gregory, Stevie Rose and Reggie Ann). Brother Dale, wife Jeanne, children Ken and Graeme and their children. Brother Wayne, wife Nita and their daughter Nicole.

Glen was predeceased by his parents Don and Janet McKenzie.

Glen leaves all his relatives, his many friends and everyone of the Harrold

family to mourn his loss.

We thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Our thanks to Dr. Brad Avery, the ER doctors and nurses and the medical and ICU staff .

Glen received great care from each of you. A special thank you to Karen Gilbert, Lowell and Peggy Heynen, your caring and support above and beyond your busy nursing career was a great comfort for Glen. We thank you so very much.

A celebration of life will be held August 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Atlin Recreation Centre.
