Douglas Ross Smith

Douglas Ross Smith was born November 30, 1933 in Fort St. John, B.C. to parents Ross and Amy Smith.

Douglas met Jessie in Fort St. John, they were married on September 18, 1959 in Dawson Creek, B.C. During their 58 years of marriage they moved to Yukon and made it their home.

Douglas and Jessie had five children; Maureen, Ross, Leatha, Val and William. Douglas turned his hand to many things; truck driver, contractor, house builder, and tax preparer.

Douglas volunteered his time at the Yukon Arts Society and as a dispatcher for Hootalinqua Fire Hall, he was an advocate and consultant for accessibility issues; he was a storyteller, an avid reader and philosopher.

Douglas was a generous man who always lent a hand to anyone in need.

Douglas leaves behind his wife Jessie, children Maureen (Ken), Ross (Cindy), Leatha (Rob), Val (Larry), and William; grandchildren Beverly (Matthew), Linda and Pyper; brothers Earl, George, Bill, Ken, Del, and Leonard, sisters Catherine, Florence, Irene and Helen, numerous great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
