May 31, 1951 - August 1, 2020
In Loving Memory ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane L. Baumgartner on August 1, 2020 at the age of 69, after losing her battle with cancer.
~ mother, dear friend, valued community member ~
She is survived by her only son Michael. Diane was born on May 31, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She grew up in California and enjoyed scuba diving and spending time in Yosemite Park. She moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1975 and visited the Yukon throughout the 90's, finally settling in Dawson City in 2005.
She worked for the Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in Government until she retired in 2019. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #1 Dawson City, Pioneer Women of the Yukon and involved with the seniors and elders in Dawson and the McDonald Lodge.
Diane was dedicated to giving back to the community and was recognized for her volunteer services by the Commissioner's office. We will never forget her kind spirit. May she rest in peace.
Thank you to the Dawson City Medical Center, Whitehorse General Hospital, BC Cancer Agency and to the friends and family that supported Diane during her battle.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society or support Branch #1 The Royal Canadian Legion.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
