June 30, 1952 - November 1, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of longtime Yukoner Brian John Tupper.
Brian was born on June 30, 1952 in Kingston, Ontario to John and June Tupper. He was the first of six children. The Tupper family moved west in 1964, first to Richmond and then to Prince George, BC. In 1970, John and June and their six children, along with family friends made the long drive up the Alaska Highway, making their lifelong home in Whitehorse, Yukon.
Brian married Brenda Friesen in 1975. They, along with their children Stewart and Heather, lived a quiet and wonderful life on Fox Lake. They enjoyed the outdoor life - hunting and fishing together and raising their children outside of the city.
Brian was what you would call a "jack of all trades". He worked a number of jobs before settling into a career in 1988 with the Yukon Territorial Government. As a Park Attendant, Brian was a staple in the campgrounds north of Whitehorse, and loved to pop into the sites of friends, family and strangers for a visit or a laugh. He did casual work with the department as a Parks Facility Builder in the off-seasons, and after his retirement in 2014, continued on for another year or so until he managed to settle himself into a true retirement.
After Brenda's unfortunate and sudden passing in 2004, work kept Brian busy, and he spent a lot of time working on his property, upgrading it slowly to suit him just right. He spent his retirement years lakeside at Fox. He perfected an irreplaceable broccoli and feta cheese pie, and dabbled in canning and baking for the kids. The perfect retirement.
Brian was predeceased by his nephew Patrick in 1986, loving wife Brenda in 2004, father John in 2011, and mother June in 2017.
He is survived by his children Stewart and Heather (Tyler), siblings Cheryl, Joanne (Dale), Larry (Jessica), Karen (Dan), and Diane, extended family Murray, Chrystal (Dave), Nikki, and his three grandchildren.
