November 11, 1945 - April 28, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antony 'Tony' Hanulik, who departed peacefully while surrounded by family on the evening of April 28th at the age of 79.
A lifelong Yukoner, Tony was born in Dawson City in 1945. He married schoolteacher Margaret Philp and relocated to Whitehorse, where he worked as a commercial helicopter pilot and heavy-duty mechanic. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and cross-country skier, a dedicated member of the Yukon flying community, a lifetime member of the Yukon Order of Pioneers, a passionate restorer of vintage vehicles and machinery, and a kind and loving patriarch to his children and grandchildren.
Tony is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Peggy) Hanulik, children Steven (Toni) and Stephanie (Colin) and his four beloved grandchildren: Mattias, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Maggie; brother Joe (Elaine), nephews John and Brian, niece Cheryl (Jason) and grandnephews Eric and Alex, and by brother-in-law Donald (Donna) Philp, nephews Roger (Melissa) and Reid (Tracy), and their children Makeiko, Owen, Taichiro, and Victoria in Manitoba. He is now reunited with his parents, Joseph and Mary Hanulik, and siblings Henry (Barbara) and Anna.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the outstanding care team at Whistle Bend Place, Whitehorse General Hospital, and the steadfast support of our family and friends who continue to support us through this difficult time.
A celebration of Tony's life will be held on Saturday, July 5th 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the MacBride Museum. Everyone is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
