Anthony ("Tony") Roger Hill passed away peacefully, with family by his side, in Collingwood, ON.
Tony is survived by his mother, Carol Hill; brothers Christopher Hill (Cherie) and Andrew Hill (Kelly); wife, Mary Lumbers; daughters Candice Derkson (Ryan), Alexandra Hill (Graham White), and Katherine Hill; and grandchildren Joshua Lewis, Emma Derkson, Rhys White, and Loic White.
Tony spent his final years in the Blue Mountains of Ontario. He also remained tied to the Yukon, where he spent 42 years building his business, Decora Landscaping, and career with the Yukon government, and raising his daughters with Mary.
Tony was an adventurer - he loved life and lived it for the thrill of it, without sweating the challenges that came his way. He fell for the Yukon after landing a dream job that took him trekking to the furthest corners of the territory.
Mary joined the adventure in 1983 and they spent the next three and a half decades travelling the world together from their home base in Whitehorse.
Tony was a person of simple pleasures. He enjoyed skiing, golfing, fishing, sipping a scotch, wise-cracking his way through a game of dominos, and making meals for the people he loved. He was happiest when working on the cabin that he and Mary built in Atlin, BC.
Tony was a pillar for his family, and a caring friend. He was quiet, but never held back his true thoughts and feelings with the people he held dear. He is greatly missed.
A celebration of life for Tony will be held at Mountain View Golf Course in Whitehorse, Yukon on Sunday, August 28.
Join us to remember Tony between 2pm and 5pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hospice Georgian Triangle.
