In loving memory ~
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Aniko Berko on Feb 07 2025, at the age of 80.
Aniko Berko was born in 1944 in an underground shelter in Miskolc Hungary. Her life was wasn't easy growing up, but she was a true survivor.
Aniko had 4 children, Marianna and Istvan and later twin boys Zoltan and Sandor she lost at birth. She divorced at 1980 and started her life journey of healing and self-discovery.
She worked in Israel for a few years as a home care person, her favorite place was the Dead Sea. She worked in New York and visited her daughter and granddaughter in Whitehorse and eventually she immigrated to Canada in 2010.
Aniko loved being a grandmother and she showered her granddaughter, Bianca with love and generosity, knitting her beautiful outfits, baking her chocolate cakes. Her chocolate cake became a sensation in Whitehorse. Aniko had many more talents, she loved painting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, any kind of crafts.
Aniko bravely dealt with breast cancer in 2014 and again from 2022.
Aniko did not know the impossible, she was a statute of resilience, she'll always be remembered as a strong force of life. Aniko's light will burn forever in our hearts.
A small memorial on top of Grey Mountain will be scheduled this summer.
