Alan Leo Macklon died peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2022, in Whitehorse, Yukon. He passed away, at home, with his family, after a long struggle with MS.
Alan was born June 20, 1959 in Lethbridge Alberta. As a child, he travelled to many communities and countries with his family and settled in Kimberley, British Columbia to complete his high school years. It was during high school that Alan met Karen through square dancing. They later married in 1981 and started their family. In 1980, Alan was the second male to complete the Foothills School of Nursing Program in Calgary. Alan moved to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1988 to work at Whitehorse General Hospital. Alan enjoyed many activities like renovating, working on his vehicles, biking, snowmobiling, boating, square dancing, watching movies, and travelling to Alberta and BC to see family and friends.
Alan is predeceased by his brother, Edward Macklon 1953; his father, William Charles Macklon 1992; his mother, Dorothy Justine Macklon (DeLaunay) 2002; and his sister, Elinor Hudon (Macklon) 2019.
Alan will be missed by his wife of 41 years, Karen (Blysak), and his five children: Sarah Macklon, Stephanie Young (Cam), Samantha Macklon (Tanner), Stacey Macklon (Andrew), and William Macklon - as well as his two granddaughters, Briar Young and Nova Nicholson. Alan is survived by his siblings: Susan Albert (Randy), Robert Macklon (Elizabeth), Peter Macklon (Lynne), and Charles Macklon. He is also survived by his brother in-law, Frank Hudon; brother in-law, Stephen Blysak (Alla); sister in-law, Patti Ford (Chris); mother in-law, May Blysak; numerous nephews, nieces, and great nieces as well as many friends near and far.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 24, 2022, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church basement.
