Yukon 511 is reporting travel advisories for some stretches of highway as much of the territory remains under a snowfall warning.
Travel advisories were in place this morning for the Klondike Highway between kilometres 256 and 430 and the Robert Campbell Highway from kilometres 529 to 581.5. The advisories describe drifting snow, icy sections, blowing snow and zero visibility.
As a result, travel is not recommended.
There is also an advisory in place for the Alaska Highway between Morley River and Jake's Corner with snow still falling, icy sections and poor visibility. An advisory for kilometre 1579-1588 of the Alaska Highway, near Haines Junction, warns of icy sections and blowing snow but visibility is listed as fair for this stretch.
Similar conditions are reported on the Haines Road and a travel advisory is in place for it.
The Environment Canada snowfall warning is in place for Whitehorse, Faro, Ross River, Mayo and White Pass. Snowfall of 10 to 15 centimetres is reported and it is continuing. The White Pass has seen about 20 centimetres. The snow, driven by a low-pressure centre over the southwest Yukon, is expected to taper off for Whitehorse and White Pass this morning and later today for other areas.
The warning notes that windy conditions this evening may result in drifting snow, further reducing visibility.
