Update: Yukon RCMP respond to fatal motor vehicle crash near blue bridge on Alaska Highway

Police say one dead and one injured in single-vehicle collision

Update 4:37 p.m. June 13:

The Alaska Highway has reopened both ways after one person died and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash near the blue bridge south of Whitehorse.

Update 10:05 a.m. June 13: 

The Yukon RCMP's communications team has clarified that the collision involved a single vehicle and one person has died. Another is injured. 

Per RCMP communications, the highway is closed but expected to be returned to single-lane traffic shortly.

RCMP in the Yukon are advising of road delays as police respond to a motor vehicle collision at kilometre 1,390 on the Alaska Highway, south of the blue bridge. 

The blue bridge, located south of Whitehorse, is formally known as the Lewes River Bridge. 

Expect delays and be ready to stop, police said in a release that echoed the message on 511 Yukon shortly after 9 a.m. on the morning of June 13.
