Yukon Little League were out at the McIntyre field celebrating a wrap up to the season

The Yukon Little League wrapped up this year’s season by organizing a home-run derby which took place at the McIntyre field on Aug. 10.

The league’s players took to the batting box and brushed up on their batting abilities during a friendly hitting match ranked across three age categories.

Taiga Buurman emerged top hitter with four home runs, closely followed by Brayden Baldwin’s three home runs in the 15-plus category.

Mason Gignac clinched first place in the 12-to-14 category, while Hunter France triumphed in the under-12 category.

The league’s second season this year has had some notable successes. The league celebrated a perfect streak of wins against Haines Little League teams at their away field in Haines, Alaska, on July 20 and 21.

Sara and Clarke Skelton, who run the league, highlighted a surge in registered players in a previous interview with the News. The league welcomed around 70 new players into its ranks for the current sporting season.
