A leaking sprinkler system caused the Yukon Hospital Corporation to postpone less than 25 per cent of planned surgeries on April 10 and 11.

The leak, discovered April 9, has been stopped but more work is needed on the sprinkler system, which could lead to more surgeries being put off at that time, according to Yukon Hospital Corporation spokesperson James Low by email to the News.

Out of the 40 procedures planned over the two days, nine surgeries were cancelled and will be rescheduled due to the leak, per Low. That includes four general surgeries, three gynecology and two orthopedics.
