Whitehorse Curling Club to host 2024 McDonald’s Invitational

The Whitehorse Curling Club will host the 2024 McDonald’s Invitational, supporting Special Olympics athletes, from Nov. 23-24.

The Whitehorse Curling Club will host the 2024 Whitehorse McDonald’s Curling Invitational on Nov. 23-24, in collaboration with Special Olympics Yukon. 

The competition supports athletes with intellectual disabilities and will provide four teams from across Canada an opportunity to go head-to-head on the curling sheets.

The Milton Flying Eagles from Ontario, part of the Milton Special Olympics program will be in town for the tournament.

The Campbell River Rocks from B.C., representing the Campbell River Curling Club will also compete. They have a history of success, having won bronze at the Special Olympics Canada Curling Championships, according to Curl BC.

Team Lakeland Melfort from Saskatchewan boasts a proud record, winning gold at the 2024 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in Calgary, as reported by Sasktoday.

The Chilkoot Sweepers from the Yukon will compete on home ice.

The event aims to promote the sport of curling and provide a competitive platform for local and visiting curlers, as noted by the Special Olympics Yukon website.
