Robert Ellis breached his bail conditions Friday, one day after he was released.

Now, the 31-year-old Watson Lake man is back in jail.

In June, Ellis was charged with “intentionally and recklessly causing fire to a travel trailer and a dwelling.”

The house belonged to his estranged wife, who was visiting a friend when the fire started.

But their three children were asleep in the dwelling.

A passerby rescued the children and the dog from the burning home.

Ellis’ wife feared for her life and the lives of her children when she learned her husband had been released.

“The justice system has just let me and my children down,” she said in a previous News interview.

Ellis was released on the condition he maintain employment with Coates Services.

But after receiving complaints, the local company refused to employ him.

Ellis’ inability to work at Coates breached the conditions of his bail on Friday.

He appeared in court Saturday, and will remain in custody without the possibility of another bail hearing.

Ellis’ next court appearance is August 18.
