Trucker charged for possessing child porn

An American truck driver has been arrested and charged by the Yukon’s RCMP for having, making and importing child pornography.

Aaron Finn’s passport aroused the suspicions of Beaver Creek border control officers. The 56-year-old trucker from Oregon had a “pattern of travel to source countries of sex tourism and child pornography including Cambodia, Thailand and the Philippines,” according to the RCMP’s news release on Wednesday.

Border officers pulled in Finn for more in-depth questioning and looked through his laptop. Then they called the cops, said Faith St. John, spokesperson for the Canada Border Services Agency.

The computer contained “several images of suspected child pornography, including a number of nude images of the subject with young females,” the police release says.

Finn was arrested and his electronic devices were seized. He is in custody and expected to appear in court on June 13.

In June, the Beaver Creek border crossing sees an average of 500 trucks and 4,500 passenger vehicles, said St. John. For the entire 2011 year, 5,200 commercial vehicles and 280,000 commuter vehicles cross at Beaver Creek, she added.
