The premier appointed three new deputy ministers this week.

Stephen LeClair is the new deputy minister of finance. He replaces David Hrycan who has been in the position since April 2007 but is now retiring.

LeClair comes from the Alberta Treasury Board and Finance Ministry where he was the assistant deputy minister of the economics and fiscal policy division.

Kelvin Leary is now deputy minister at the Department of Community Services. He replaces Harvey Brooks. Brooks is moving to Saskatchewan to be with his family.

Leary is the currently deputy minister of environment. He moved to the Yukon in 1985 and took a job with the Yukon government 10 years later. He moved up through the ranks and has served as deputy environment minister since 2006.

Jim Connell is taking over Leary’s old position with the Department of Environment.

Most recently Connell worked as director of the management board secretariat and then became assistant deputy minister of strategic corporate services for the executive council office.
