If you’ve driven the Alaska Highway between Porter Creek and downtown Whitehorse recently, you may have noticed one section where the yellow dividing line on the road jags suddenly to one side.

Despite what you might think, this bewildering sway in the markings was not the work of a drunken road worker.

“It’s going to be a median,” said Highways spokesperson Jennifer Magnuson.

“So, basically, what they’re trying to do is get traffic used to having a median there.”

The median will serve the access road to the new Raven’s Ridge development.

It’s unclear when construction will begin on the road, but it should be completed some time during the fall, said Magnuson.
