In this old photograph, some officers of the Yukon Order of Pioneers, Dawson City Lodge, show the lodge’s official banner.

Probably, this beautiful historic banner was destroyed when Dawson’s old Pioneer log building burned in the not so distant past.

It was a terrible loss.

The old Yukon of Pioneer log building was also a big loss to our history.

At Fortymile, on December 1, 1894, the organization was formed.

The Yukon Order of Pioneers is still an active and respected organization in the territory, with Lodge No. 1 in Dawson City and Lodge No. 2 in Whitehorse.

Postscript: After writing this, I checked with the YOOP historian in Dawson City, John Gould, and he said the banner had, sadly, been lost along with many other items.
