The old Whitehorse post office was located on the corner of Front Street (First Avenue) and Lambert Street. As you can see in the photograph, it was a unique and beautiful building. It also housed the town's and territory's courtroom.

As you can see in the photograph, it was a unique and beautiful building. It also housed the town’s and territory’s courtroom.

The Disney company would probably spend a million dollars to recreate a building like that for Disneyland. Yet, even though the building was in good shape, it was torn down, along with the Lambert schoolhouse, which was also on Lambert Street and also in excellent shape.

I believe both buildings were built around 1901-1902. Most of Lambert Street from the 1950s to about 1965 consisted of historical log cabins.

We didn’t realize the value of our early buildings in that time period, so most were demolished.
