With a new “waterless-mode” street sweeper, city workers can clean the streets before the snow has melted.
Normally, the Elgin Waterless unit runs $338,437.
But city officials are buying a used unit for $215,800 – saving $122,637.
The used sweeper was a demo unit. Making the rounds of trade shows throughout BC, it has never yet seen full-fledged service, said administrative services director Robert Fendrick.
