Stacey Hassard to seek re election in Pelly Nisutlin

Pelly-Nisutlin MLA Stacey Hassard has announced he will seek re-election with the Yukon Party during this year’s territorial election.

Pelly-Nisutlin MLA Stacey Hassard has announced he will seek re-election with the Yukon Party during this year’s territorial election.

The riding includes the communities of Teslin, Ross River and Faro. Hassard was raised and lives in Teslin, and was first elected in 2011.

“Pelly-Nisutlin is a very diverse riding and representing its residents has been a very rewarding experience,” he said in a statement on Friday.

Hassard was appointed to cabinet in 2015, and is now the minister of economic development and the minister responsible for the Yukon Housing Corporation, the Yukon Liquor Corporation and the Yukon Lottery Commission.

Hassard did not respond to an interview request for this story.

The Liberals and the NDP have not announced candidates for Pelly-Nisutlin.
